About the YAR
# What is the purpose of this website ?
Lichess does not provide a global ranking of all players. The only ranking available (the
rank number on your profile, the "you're better than X% of Antichess players" sentence, the
top 200 and the
leaderboards)
is restricted to the players of the week only : stop playing for
7 days and you disappear. This means that there is a significant number of legitimate
players missing from the Lichess ranking, making it rather unreliable to determin
a player's real global ranking.
As far as I'm concerned, I often stop playing for more than 7 days, and when I do,
I don't feel like I'm no longer a serious player, nor unworthy of my Elo rating.
The Youyou Ranking tries to include all legitimate players, by implementing
less restrictive rules (which are, of course, arbitrary and subject to questioning).
# Is this website affiliated with Lichess ?
No, it is not.
# How is it decided which players get to be ranked or not ?
An Antichess player qualifies for ranking according to these rules :
- Having an open, human-controlled, non-marked account on Lichess ;
- Having played at least 30 rated games ;
- Having played at least 10 rated games* within the last year ;
- Having won at least 5 rated games* ;
- Having a decent ROARG value.
*Games against players with provisional ratings are disregarded.

# What is a 'marked' account ?
An account is marked has having violated Lichess' Terms of Service usually by being suspected of cheating. Lichess uses an algorithm to detect unhumanly decisions, and sometimes, players can get marked by playing a little too close to Stockfish's best move line (even more in Antichess where the possibilities are fewer).
Such accounts are not elligible for ranking, because there are too many,
and it is likely that most of them are actual cheaters. Also, most
players who get marked usually create a new account.
Sincere condolences to those who were unfairly marked !
# What in the devil's name is a ROARG ?
The Recent Opponents' Average Rating Gap is the average rating difference between a player and their opponents, computed over the most recent rated games. The restriction's purpose is to exclude from ranking players who are artificially increasing their Elo rating. More info on this page.
# I play antichess, why am I not ranked ?
Your account might not be elligible for ranking : checkout the ranking rules. Additionally, players who became recently elligible might take some time to be updated. Additionally-er, new accounts might take even longer to be discovered.

# Where do titles come from ?
Titles are granted by the International Antichess Federation (IAF). More info on their website : Antichess titles & Titled players.
# How often is the data updated ?
It depends on the Elo rating :
Player category | Update interval | Current oldest update |
---|---|---|
Ranked players in Lichess' top 200 of the week | 4 minutes | 1 min |
Ranked players with an Elo rating of 2000+ | 6 minutes | 8 min |
Ranked players with an Elo between 1800 and 2000 | 22 minutes | 30 min |
Other ranked players | 9 hours | 12 hours |
Unranked players | 4 days | 2025-03-29 |
# Is there an API available ?
Not yet, but maybe in the future.
